Filey Man Sets Out To Become Oldest Cross Channel Swimmer

A 72 year old Filey Man is setting himself the challenge of becoming the oldest person to swim the English Channel.

Bill Hitchcock trains with active Filey, Kingfishers club in Scarborough and at Wykeham lakes.

Speaking on Paddy at Breakfast Bill explained why he's taking on the world record attempt.

Bill Hitchcock is hoping to complete the challenge next summer and will be starting with some smaller challenges this year.

Bill says he likes being active and liked the idea of tacking the channel.

Bill says open water swimming has had a resurgence in recent years especially with older people.

Bill has a long history of fitness activities but says he's a relative newcomer to swimming.
