There's a warning not to become complacent as the COVID infection rate decreases.
In the last week the seven day COVID infection rate in the Scarborough Borough fell from 380 cases for every hundred thousand people to 233.
And while that seems like good news, health leaders are warning that the actual number of cases is continuing to increase and the numbers of people requiring hospital treatment is also going up.
Public Health Consultant Dr Victoria Turner says there is a known lag between the infection rate falling and the effects being seen.
Dr Turner also cautions that as lateral flow tests are rolled out across more areas of the Yorkshire Coast getting a negative result doesn't necessarily mean you are virus free.
