Fall in Railway Station Use at Bridlington, Filey, Hunmanby and Bempton

New figures show how many people used Yorkshire Coast Railway stations this year.

The Office for Rail and Road has released statistics on the most and least used railway stations in Yorkshire, based on the number of entries and exits between April 2023 and March 2024.

Hull was the most used station on the Yorkshire Coast, with 2,639,696 entries and exits. It was the 196th most used station in Great Britain.

Scarborough was the second most used station on the Yorkshire Coast, with 896,794 entries and exits. It was the 549th most used station in Great Britain.

Bridlington had 491,854 entries and exits, making it the third most used station on the Yorkshire Coast. It ranked 832nd in Great Britain.

Filey (152,458 entries and exits) and Seamer (132,030 entries and exits) were the fourth and fifth most used stations, respectively.

While passenger numbers increased at Scarborough, Seamer and Driffield other statiosn on the Yorkshire Coast saw a decline in passenger numbers with Bridlington down by just under 13,000 passengers, Filey down by just under 11,000, Hunmanby by 3,400 and Bempton by 346.

  • Arram station stands out with a significant 200% increase in usage.
  • Driffield's year-on-year change remains relatively small at 1.82% despite the significant shift in its national ranking.
  • Several stations, including Bridlington, Filey, Hunmanby, Hutton Cranswick, and Bempton, experienced a decline in passenger numbers.

While Leeds was the busiest station in Yorkshire and the fourth busiest in Great Britain with 24.9 million entries and exits. London Liverpool Street was the most used station in Great Britain.
