A campaign to find a bone marrow donor for a Whitby girl has also helped two other people find potential matches.
Eight year old Evie from Whitby was diagnosed with Aplastic Anaemia earlier this year. It's a rare blood condition which meant Evie would need a bone marrow transplant.
After an initial transplant operation in August fell through, Evie and her family launched a nationwide campaign to encourage more people to sign up for the Stem Cell Donor register.
Yesterday Evie and her mum Tina appeared on ITV's This Morning to announce on live national TV that the search had been successful and that two matches for Evie have been found and that preparations are now underway for Evie to have the operation in the new year.
However, the campaign that Evie and her family launched has not only helped Evie but has found potential matches for two other people as well.
Tina told Paddy @ Breakfast more about the success.
Tina says the family heard about the potential match for Evie a few weeks ago but wanted to wait for details to firm up before going public with the news.
Evie told Paddy that she enjoyed being on the TV and is looking forward to the difference the operation will make to her life.
Evie and her family say it's important that people keep putting themselves forward as potential donors.
Potential donors can register for a swab test kit either with the Anthony Nolan trust if they are under 30 years old or with DKMS if they are over 30.
Under the age of 30, register with Anthony Nolan https://www.anthonynolan.org/8-ways-you-could-save-life/donate-your-stem-cells
Over 30 years old, register with DKMS https://www.dkms.org.uk/en/register-now
