Three rowers from a Whitby rowing club have helped England to championship success on the south coast.
The Home International Rowing Beach Sprints is a new event with the four “Home Nations” of England, Ireland, Scotland & Wales competing.
The event is building off the rich history of its sister event the Home International Rowing Regatta, which has seen many Olympians racing for their first international representation.
England saw off competition from the other home nations and Jersey to win the sprints on Saturday in Bournemouth.
Three rowers from Whitby Coastal Rowing Club- Marc Wilson, Zack Hills and Sefi Ormston- starred in the contest.
Wilson said:
"Yeah super happy with the overall win.
"It’s the first time England have lifted the Guin Batten trophy and it was against super strong opposing teams which included several Great Britain rowers, world and commonwealth games champions so it just proves the strength in depth we have in this country."
If you want to get involved with the rowing club, you can search them on Facebook or go to the website.
