The roll out of Warm Spaces in the East Riding is having some unexpected benefits.
The creation of warm spaces in the East Riding is providing an opportunity to tackle social isolation.
Council funding was made available to enable community groups to provide the warm spaces for people who couldn't afford to heat their own homes.
Councillor Jane Evison says many people are turning up to the spaces and it's highlighting a number of other issues including loneliness.
A total of 60 welcome and warm spaces have opened across the East Riding funded by grants of up to £5,000, this is in addition to the 23 libraries also being opened to people to keep warm.
Director of Public Health - Andy Kingdom - says the groups involved are seeing new people coming through their doors who need help.
