Bridlington Medical, Health and Social Care Academy,is holding an event today to highlight health and care careers available.
The event will be held in the college’s start of the art clinical skills suite. The suite provides mocked up hospital environments as well as equipment such as robotic interactive nursing manikins, to train the next generation of healthcare professionals.
The academy is a partnership between East Riding Council and Headlands and Bridlington Schools.
Since the clinical suite opened in 2019, 200 students have joined the academy partnership. Graduates have gone on to join a variety of courses and institutions, from medicine at the University of Edinburgh, Midwifery at Hull University, Sports Science at Leeds Beckett University, to foundation diploma forensic science at East Riding college.
Nursing, social work, physiotherapy, and other professionals will attend the event, speaking to students about their roles. They will provide guidance on local opportunities and pathways to employment in the health sector.
Students enrolled at the college, in their first year of sixth form, will be able to ask questions and find out what at typical day is like in a variety of health professions
Councillor Victoria Aitken, East Riding of Yorkshire Council cabinet member for children, families and education said
“This is a fantastic opportunity for students to learn about healthcare professions. Many thanks to the professionals who have volunteered to attend and share their experiences, and I hope that this can encourage students to consider a career in healthcare.”
