The team at Spar in East Ayton are looking for foodbanks to take produce they can't currently sell.
The store is one of a number of SPAR shops in the North of England affected by IT issues which means they are unable to take payments and have been unable to open as a result.
The problems started yesterday Morning, John from the East Ayton petrol station store says they've now got food that they would like to get to a local foodbank.
Any foodbank interested in collecting the food can contact the East Ayton store on 01723 865112
John says they have a range of produce available.
In a statement on Monday SPAR said one of it's wholesalers was experiencing IT issues, with a knock on effect for a number of store sin the North.
James Hall & Company are currently aware of an online attack on it's IT system. This has not affected all SPAR stores across the North of England, but a number have been impacted over the past 24 hours and we are working to resolve this situation as quickly as possible.
It is currently impacting stores' ability to process card payments meaning that a number of SPAR stores are currently closed to shoppers or only taking cash payments.
We apologise for the inconvenience this is causing our customers and we are working as quickly as possible to resolve the situation.
The IT issues have also affected the petrol station in Whitby which was also closed on Monday morning.
