Pupils at East Ayton School will be helping to open a new reading stable today a year after the loss of one of their classmates.
The new facility has been built in memory of Olivia who lost her fight with cancer last January.
Head Teacher - Lisa Nellist - says they've built the reading stable with help from local businesses Flixton Sawmill and SWC Trade Frames along with Olivia's friends and family.
The opening of the memorial reading stable will coincide with a special “sunset day” at the school to remember Olivia. Children will wear purple and donate to Olivia’s Ark.
The stable will be a place where children can go for personal reflection and to enjoy reading, something Olivia loved to do.
Head Teacher - Lisa Nellist - says the stable has been themed around Olivia's love of horses.
The Reading Stable has it's own unique sign which has been made by a friend of Olivia's mum.
Lisa says that creating the reading stable has been a real team effort with support from local people and businesses as well as Olivia’s friends and family.
The school hopes the stable will be well used by pupils, teachers, and support staff.
