Driffield Go From Strength To Strength But Folkton Knocked Off The Top

Driffield Town enjoyed a comfortable win in Yorkshire Premier North but Folkton & Flixton suffered a blow to their promotion hopes.

Driffield won the toss and put hosts Easingwold in, bowling them out for just 114 inside 32 overs.

Methusan Thilina took 5/35 and James Anson 3/19.

The visitors then reached their target with just one wicket down thanks to Alec Drury's unbeaten 78 from 60 balls.

Scarborough chose to bat first at Clifton Alliance, in the same division, but may have regretted that decision at 13/3 and 50/6.

Archie Hammond was the star hitting 55 down the order as Boro reached 166/9 from their 50 overs.

However, despite Gihan Maligaspe Koralage taking 2/35, Clifton reached their target, by five wickets, with 21 overs to spare.

Folkton & Flixton suffered a blow in their bid to join Scarborough and Driffield in Yorkshire Premier North, next season.

The villagers were beaten by 58 runs at Woodhouse Grange, with rivals Beverley Town leapfrogging them at the top of YPN Championship East, as a result.

Hosts Woodhouse Grange chose to bat first and made an imposing 283/7 from their 50 overs. There were two wickets each for Elliot Hatton and Harry Edwards.

The visitors faltered to 74/4 in reply, despite Ed Hopper's 48 and Calum Hatton's 38, eventually being bowled out for 225, in the 48th over.

Bridlington lost a high-scoring thriller at Brandesburton, in the same division.

Brid put their hosts in, but laboured in the field with 235 on the board before the second wicket fell.

Brandesburton posted an impressive 317/8 from 50 overs with two wickets each for Steve Janney, Adam Newington and Jordan Baker.

At 43/4, their target looked a long way away, but a series of middle-order partnerships got the away side back into the game.

Wicket-keeper John Major made a superb 136 from 122 balls with skipper Russell Robinson slamming 77 from just 53 balls.

Brid needed five to win from the last two balls, but Major was caught and last man Ben Traves run out as the visitors were bowled out for 314 on the last ball.

Pickering will be in that division, next season, they thumped North Cave Coal Exporters by 137 runs as they continued their coast to the YPN Division One East title.

Andrew Sharman shone with a tremendous 141 not out from 131 balls, with Kieran Bowes adding 78 and Max Harland 51 as Pickering posted 358/7 from their 50 overs.

Their hosts were then skittled for 221, with three wickets each for Bowes and Joe Harland.

In the same division, Filey suffered a 61-run defeat at home to Hull Zingari Seconds.

The visitors chose to bat first and made 217, with Harry Burton taking 4/34.

Ryan Baldry then top-scored with 48, for Filey, but the hosts were bowled out for 156, in the 44th over, at Clarence Drive.

A much-improved batting performance saw Whitby to a 72-run win over Guisborough, at the Turnbull Ground, in North Yorkshire South Durham division One.

It may not be enough to keep them up, but Theo Clarke's brilliant 120 from 125 balls inspire Whitby to declare on 298/8 from 47 overs. Tom Steyert added 47 in support at the top of the innings.

Guisborough batted out their overs but fell well short of the target, with 226/5- Rhys Buck took 4/73.
