Costello Looking For First Victory as Bridlington Boss

Adie Costello is looking for his first win as Bridlington Town manager when his side travel to Carlton on Saturday.

It’s a second away trip of the week for Bridlington Town, as they make the over 200-mile round trip to Carlton Town on Saturday - a game rearranged from 10th December, when the game was called off the evening before due to a frozen pitch.

Costello will be looking for his side to bounce back from defeat away to Ossett United. Lewis Dennison opened the scoring after 21 minutes, however a three-minute brace from James Walshaw just before the break saw the Seasiders leave empty handed.

It means Costello has picked up one point from a possible six in his first two games in charge of the club, having also drawn 1-1 against Sheffield FC. That said, he will no doubt be expecting a positive result against strugglers Carlton Town.

Bridlington Town are winless in their last six games, with their last victory coming at home to Tadcaster Albion on Boxing Day. With just two points from a possible 18, the Seasiders sit bottom of the form table.

Nevertheless, the Millers form is also poor, having picked up just four points in their last six matches. Similar to Bridlington, they were also defeated midweek, losing 4-2 at home against Brighouse Town.

Five points separate the two sides going into the game, with Carlton sitting in a relegation playoff position in 18th and Bridlington Town just outside the drop zone three positions higher.

The fixture will be viewed as a crucial game in the battle for survival, especially as the hosts have a game in hand on Bridlington.

Dennison’s midweek goal saw him make himself Bridlington Town’s top scorer so far this season, having scored nine times, eight of which were in the league.

As for Carlton, Bradley Wells is their top scorer with 12 goals. He has had to settle for a substitute appearance in the last two games, though he did net off the bench in their last outing.

Supporters of both sides will be hoping for an increase in entertainment and goals compared to the last time this sides met in a 0-0 draw back in September.
