A proposed fracking test in Burniston could bring "thousands of HGV's" to local roads.
That's the concern of one local Councillor.
North Yorkshire Councillor Rich Maw says the gas drilling test proposed by Europa gas would require a large number of vehicle movements and he's worried about the long term implications if the test is judged to be a success.
Europa Gas is expected to submit a planning application for the site in the coming weeks.
North Yorkshire Council says that the impact of HGV journeys to the local community in Burniston will be looked at in the consideration of any plan to develop a test fracking site in the village.
The council's Executive Member for Transport - Councillor Keane Duncan - says residents will be able to have their say if the plans move forward.
Europa Oil & Gas's plans involve a "proppant squeeze" or hydraulic fracking project to assess the commercial viability of gas extraction in the area. The project would include the construction of a 30m high derrick.
The potential impacts of the project have raised concerns among locals and politicians.
According to Europa Oil & Gas, the project could last up to 17 weeks and involve over 1,000 HGV movements. If the gas reserves are deemed financially viable, the company may seek approval to drill up to five wells for extraction over a decade or more.
