Christmas Show Championing Inclusivity Coming to Bridlington and Hornsea

She Productions Theatre Company are staging "Bauble Town," a festive musical designed to be accessible to all.

The show will tour East Riding libraries and community venues throughout December, including performances in Bridlington and Hornsea.

"Bauble Town" stands out for its commitment to inclusivity. The show features:

• Acoustic music: This creates a gentler soundscape for audience members sensitive to loud noises.
• Makaton-integrated songs: The use of Makaton sign language ensures that deaf or hard-of-hearing audience members can enjoy the musical elements of the performance.
• Natural Lighting: The show utilizes natural lighting, creating a less overwhelming visual experience for those with sensory sensitivities.
• A Relaxed Environment: "Bauble Town" is performed in a relaxed environment, where audience members are free to move around and make noise. This makes the show accessible to neurodivergent individuals who may find traditional theatre settings challenging.

The heart of "Bauble Town" lies in its collaboration with young carers and children in care. These young people's perspectives on family, creativity, and resilience have shaped the show's narrative. Through workshops, they contributed to the show's development, culminating in a poignant final song titled "The Unseen."

The production emerged from workshops conducted with East Riding of Yorkshire Council's Children's Participation and Rights Team at the Pop-Up Space in Fruit Market Hull, generously provided by Wykeland Group. These sessions brought together young carers and children looked after, ensuring their voices and experiences are authentically represented in the show's development.

The company's Pay It Forward campaign has seen local individuals and businesses pay for 726 tickets to date. These tickets are being distributed through partner organisations including Hull & East Yorkshire Children's University, East Riding Libraries, and East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Children’s Participation and Rights Team, ensuring access for local children and families who might otherwise miss out on live theatre this Christmas.

She Productions is a registered charity made up of female-identifying theatre-makers based in East Riding of Yorkshire. The company creates high-quality, affordable musicals specifically for young audiences and families.
