Charity Christmas Tractor Run in Aid of Yorkshire Air Ambulance

A festive spectacle of decorated tractors will light up the coastal route from Cloughton to Scarborough tonight, all in support of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

The Charity Christmas Tractor Run will see approximately 50 tractors, lorries, Unimogs and even a quad bike, adorned with twinkling Christmas lights and decorations, embark on the scenic journey.

Trisha Baron is one of the event organisers and says the convoy will depart from Moor Farm in Cloughton at 6 pm sharp:

Travelling via Gowland Lane to Burniston, Scalby and Newby. The Tractors will then proceed along Green Lane to the A165, reaching the Peasholm and continuing along the Marine Drive to Foreshore Road.

After reaching the Spa roundabout, the procession will turn and follow the foreshore back to Peasholm, returning to Cloughton via the A165 and A171.

Trisha says there will be a real variety of vehicles taking part in the event.

Spectators are encouraged to line the route to enjoy the festive display, with collection points for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance set up along the way.

Prime viewing locations include Burniston High Street, Scalby Road, the corner of Green Lane and Cross Lane, and Peasholm. The Air Ambulance mascots will also be present on the seafront collecting donations.

Upon their return to Moor Farm, the participants will be treated to a hog roast supper followed by a charity auction and raffle.

A share in a racehorse is up for grabs as the main auction item, while the raffle boasts an array of prizes including whisky, beer, and wine. The prize for the best-decorated tractor will be awarded at approximately 8:30 pm.

The organisers hope to raise a significant sum for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, a vital service for the rural community.

The air ambulance relies entirely on donations to keep its helicopters flying, with an estimated daily cost of £19,000.

Those unable to attend the event can still contribute by donating via the designated collection points along the route or through the JustGiving page at https://www.justgiving.com/page/charity-christmas-tractor-run-06122024
