Scarborough Borough Council says it will take some time to convert all it's vehicles to be low carbon.
65 percent of the council's diesel fleet is now using a low carbon alternative fuel.
The council's Climate Change Programme Manager - Harry Baross - says the aim is to get as many vehicles to be electric as possible but it wont happen all at once.
Long lead times on electric vehicles is one of the factors slowing Scarborough Borough Council's transition to a low carbon fleet.
Harry Baross says the local government reorganisation coming next April may help speed up the process.
