Hebburn Town will travel to the seaside on Saturday 3rd December to face Bridlington Town at the Hudgell Solicitor Stadium.
The second consecutive home game for Mike Thompson’s side comes after they ground out a 0-0 draw against strugglers Grantham Town last time out in a game which saw good defensive displays limit chances for both teams.
Thompson was forced to name a makeshift side due to multiple players being unavailable due to injury and suspension, including Jake Martindale and Ryan Caulfield being played out of position in midfield.
The good news for Bridlington Town fans is that there should be a number of players back for the Hebburn game. Jack Bulless will return from his one-match suspension and captain Jack Griffin should be ready to return from an injury picked up against Stocksbridge.
Lewis Dennison also made his comeback from injury against Grantham, playing half-an-hour off the bench - his first appearance since the end of September when he was forced off against Cleethorpes. Thompson told Brid Town TV that with another two training sessions under his belt this week, Dennison should be in a position to push for a starting spot on Saturday.
The point against Grantham ensured Bridlington Town remained in a very respectable 8th position in the league with 22 points, though they will drop to 9th if Ossett United manage to leave bottom-of-the-league Tadcaster Albion with three points on Friday evening.
As for the visitors, they sit in 5th position, inside the playoffs by one point. However, their form in recent weeks has taken a turn for the worse. They have only picked up one point in their past five games and haven’t won since a 2-0 away win against Consett over a month ago. Their last result saw them fall to a 3-1 defeat at home against an in-form Stocksbridge Park Steels side.
The two sides last played each other on the 29th January, where an Olly Martin hattrick sealed a 3-0 home win for Hebburn. Martin finished last campaign as Hebburn’s top scorer with 13 goals, and leads their charts this season having already bagged nine, so he will be the man the Bridlington Town defence need to be wary of.
The reverse fixture saw a goalless draw between the two teams at the Hudgell Solicitor Stadium on Saturday 23rd October 2021.
