Bridlington Town Extend Loan Deal and Welcome Back Former Player

Charlie Winfield will be staying at Brid for the rest of the season and Matty Dixon is making a return.

Bridlignton Town have announced the return of Matty Dixon, from fellow Northern Premier League East side North Ferriby.

The 30-year old is a product of Hull City’s academy, featuring for the first team in a league cup match against Accrington Stanley in 2015.

Now entering his third spell with the club, Dixon offers the team versatility, being able to operate comfortably at full-back and in midfield.

Manager Mike Thompson said:

“I’m so happy to welcome Matty back to the club. I managed to bring Matty back to the club in 2022 and during that time he was superb for me.

We had a number of approaches for Matty that season due to his stand out performances but it was great to see he stayed loyal to what we were looking to achieve.

“Matty has since moved onto North Ferriby but he was right at the top of my list in relation to players I trust, players I know I can hang my hat on and a player that is versatile in what he can bring this team moving into a pivotal stage of the season.

Another fan favourite that I am so happy to bring into this group, welcome back Matty.”

Meanwhile Charlie Winfield’s loan deal has been extended until the end of the season.

The left-back, on loan from Worksop Town, has made 18 appearances for the Seasiders, scoring once in the 2-0 away win against Sherwood Colliery.

On securing his services for the remainder of the campaign, manager Mike Thompson said:

“It’s no secret that Charlie has been a stand-out figure before my time here and he’s been great in the few weeks that I have had the opportunity to work with him.

“He’s pivotal to the way I want to set this team up so to have the opportunity to continue working with him is a real pleasure. If we can continue to give him the platform to play I hope he continues to grow with us and I’m sure he is one the fans smile about week in week out when seeing his name on the team sheet.”
