Bridlington Fundraiser for Eating Disorder Support Charity

The event is being organised in memory of Bridlington teenager Chelsea Blue who lost her battle with an eating disorder last year at the age of just 17.

The special fundraising event in Bridlington today will be raising money and awareness for local eating disorder charity SEED.

Chelsea's dad Steve Blackford says they are looking to do something positive.

Today's event is at Bridlington Town Football Clubs Town Bar from 1pm until 6pm.

Steve says they will also be handing out the £15,000 raised in their last fundraising campaign for Chelsea’s much loved local clubs - Bridlington Gymnastics club and the singing and performing clubs at her schools.

A GoFundMe fundraising page has been set up to help raise money for SEED.

The fundraising page says:

"Eating disorders have the HIGHEST rate of Mortalitys in all the Mental Health illnesses, unfortunately we was one of them family’s that suffered with the worst devastating outcomes

We are committed to help SEED and to help fight for a change so people who are suffering can get the best help possible and to help Seed  hopefully get there new premises which they are planning on naming one of their Therapy rooms, The Chelsea Blue Room.

Chelsea always loved to help people and having a room in her name will Help to keep Chelsea’s new journey and legacy alive so she can still help people from heaven"

Marg Oaten MBE, is the Secretary and Co-founder of SEED, she says:

"We are a group made up of ordinary people who have had first-hand experience of eating disorders in one form or another. We feel it is important to share experiences with others and help in any way possible. We know from personal experiences how difficult it is to obtain the professional help and assistance in overcoming eating disorders. We hoped that by starting Support and Self-Help Groups we would be able to offer help and advice. Our services have developed well beyond that, as we strive to bridge the gaps and meet the needs of those affected by this devastating illness.

Although Seed is not a Clinical Service, we will do our very best to support, advise and signpost sufferers, carers and loved ones appropriately, by giving people the tools to enable them to cope on a daily basis."
