A 36-year-old man was arrested yesterday following a dangerous driving incident in Bridlington
Humberside Police say the incident on Thursday afternoon began when officers became aware of a male driving a vehicle in Bridlington whilst disqualified from driving.
Whilst held at a red traffic light, officers boxed the vehicle in however the driver made off at speed, "recklessly colliding" with one of the police vehicles.
Officers say:
"A short pursuit subsequently occurred however thanks to the quick and effective team work of Neighbourhood and Patrol colleagues, and the towns eagled eyed CCTV operator, the vehicle and its driver were soon located and a male was arrested in situ for multiple offences. The vehicle was seized."
Ashley MITCHELL, 36 years old, was later charged with Disqualified driving, Dangerous driving and driving without insurance. He was remanded in custody to appear in court today.
Humberside Police say:
"Thankfully there was only minor damage caused to the Police vehicle and luckily there were no injuries however the outcome could have been very different due to MITCHELLS behaviour.
As always we will not tolerate such behaviour and we are determined to bring those responsible for any criminality to justice. If you have any information to help the Police, please call 101 or CRIMESTOPPERS anonymously on 0800 555 111."
