Bridlington could get a new seven day a week dental service.
The town has recently lost two of it's local dental practices both of which handed back their NHS contracts.
Other local NHS contractors were offered the opportunity to take on the work from the closed practices but no one expressed interest.
Debbie Pattinson is the NHS Dental Commissioning Lead for the area, she says there is now an opportunity to reshape dental provision in the town.
Debbie Pattinson says the dental funding released by the closure of the two practices will stay in the town and will be used to commission a new seven day a week service for the town.
In December last year a study from the Association of Dental Groups (ADG) found the East Riding was one of 20 emerging dental deserts.
The 20 places named in the study had an average of just 32 dentists per 100,000 people, with the ADG calling for an urgent levelling up of access.
