Brid in Trouble as Survival Goes to Final Day

Our major Yorkshire Coast cricket sides were in action on Saturday, with Bridlington in big relegation trouble.

Brid lost by seven wickets at Whitkirk in the YPN Championship.

The visitors won the toss and chose to bat first.

After putting on a solid 38 for the opening partnership, with Casey Rudd making 19 and Richard Lount 17, Brid slipped to 60/5.

Steve Janney top-scored with 34 and skipper Russell Robinson added 26 as the pair put on 63 for the sixth wicket but it wasn't enough as Bridlington fell to 158 all out in just the 38th over.

Whitkirk then raced to threir target, recovering from 26/2 to put on 127 for the third wicket.

They got home in the 33rd over, with just three wickets down, despite scalps for Thomas Hudson, Ben Traves and Ricky Robinson.

Brid are second from bottom going into the final day clash with Welton at Duke's Park, they're 18 points adrift of safety so need a big win and other results to go their way.

Scarborough brought down the curtain on their Yorkshire Premier North season, they finish seventh after a heavy defeat to pacesetters York.

Stand-in skipper Adam Newington chose to bat first and Boro started started solidly at North Marine Road, before slipping from 62/1 to 111/7.

Wicket-keeper/opener Duncan Brown smashed 84 from 101 balls, including two sixes, but the next highest score with the bat was 20.

Boro were eventually skittled for 154, in the 42nd over.

York then strolled to their target, in just the 21st over.

The visitors won by eight wickets, with Archie Hammond and Jonathan Crick getting a victim apiece for a reshuffled Scarborough side.

Back to the Championship where Folkton & Flixton also lost heavily after opting to bat first.

Max Harland stood out with 66 from 86 balls, but lacked support bar Jake Hatton's 30.

Wicket-keeper Marley Ward added an unbeaten 20 as the visitors were bowled out for 216 in the penultimate over.

Welton then eased home with ten overs and seven wickets to spare.

Harry Walmsley was the pick of the bowlers with 2/38- Charlie Colley took 1/40.

Folkton & Flixton look to be safe for another season as they sit in seventh spot ahead of the final day home clash with York Seconds.

Whitby were saved from relegation on the final day as already-down Blackhall conceded their scheduled match.

Kai MOrris' men finished third-from-bottom in North Yorkshire South Durham Division One.
