A charity which is building a holiday home for poorly Children and their families in Scarborough is selling bricks to help fund the project.
The Bradley Lowrey Foundation was set up in 2017 in memory of the youngster who lost his fight with Neuroblastoma at the age of six, and who enjoyed family holiday's in the town.
Lynn Murphy is co-founder of the charity and says the brick sale is a way of helping to fund the ongoing building work.
Building on the project is underway, Lynn says the holiday home is going to be big enough to accommodate extended families.
Since the project launched in 2017 the projected build costs have significantly increased. It had been hoped the property would be ready for this summer, but the completion date is now likely to be summer next year.
Lynn Murphy from the charity says they are continuing to raise funds including by selling the sponsored bricks.
Bradley become famous after striking an amazing friendship with football player Jermain Defoe, which helped raise the profile of childhood cancer worldwide.
After Bradley passed, his mother Gemma Lowery founded the charity in his name to support families fundraising for treatment or equipment, not yet available on the NHS. To date the charity has supported many families to access potentially life saving treatment in Michigan/New York/Barcelona/Panama and Mexico and has supported many families to get life changing equipment in their homes to enable their disabled children to live more comfortably.
Lynn says:
"It was always our plan to create a holiday home for families of poorly children to have relaxing time away and make those much-needed memories outside the clinical setting of hospital.
Having a poorly child who spends over 50% of their lives in hospital can become extremely expensive and time away is their last priority due to the cost, so the Bradley Lowery Foundation will be offering two families per week a much needed break away in the luxury holiday home situation in the idyllic seaside town of Scarborough.
We are now offering organisations to be a part of the build, by purchasing ‘’A Brick for Brad’s pad’’.
Each brick will have your organisations name and will be displayed in and around the holiday home named ‘’Super Brad’s Pad’’.
The cost of each brick is £250, this will cover the cost of the brick with remaining funds going towards to the holiday home build and running of the home, which will support up to 100 families per year to make amazing memories. Organisations buying a brick will also have their own writeup in the memory book as well as on the foundations social media and website.
the bricks can be purchased on the foundation's website at https://bradleyloweryfoundation.com/product/brick-for-brads-pad/ or by emailing contact@bradleyloweryfoundation.com
