Boro Take Step Towards Safety & Villagers Return To Top

Scarborough's cricketers took a step towards safety with a big win on Saturday, while Folkton & Flixton are back on track for promotion.

Boro are up a place after thumping Sessay by eight wickets at North Marine Road on Saturday.

The visitors chose to bat first, but three wickets each for Gihan Maligaspe Koralage, Hayden Williamson and Harry Walmsley saw them restricted to 201 all out, from exactly 50 overs.

In reply, Robert Pinder led Boro to victory with a splendid 84 not out- Walmsley and Koralage added 42 and 39 respectively.

In the same division, Driffield Town had an even more convincing win at home to Hull Zingari.

The away side opted to bat first but were skittled for just 126 in the 36th over.

Joe Stabler took an incredible 5/10, with George Drury grabbing 3/27.

Alec Drury added 70 not out with Jack Oakley 54 not out as the hosts eased home, by ten wickets, inside 26 overs.

Folkton & Flixton are back top of the YPN Championship East after leapfrogging rivals Beverley Town.

A Yorkshire Coast derby saw Bridlington win the toss and bat first with Jordan Baker posting an impressive 106 and Sam Tennant adding 68 from just 57 balls.

Brid eventually posted a testing 261/5 from their 50 overs.

In reply, skipper Will Hutchinson made 84 and Elliot Hatton a scintillating 110 from only 88 balls, including four sixes.

The villagers got home with five overs and six wickets remaining- combined with Beverley's surprise loss at Patrington- Folkton & Flixton now lead the table by four points with two games left- the top two meet on the final day.

In YPN Division One East, champions-elect Pickering suffered a shock 46-run loss at Beverley Seconds.

The hosts were all out for 278, with Pickering then dismissed for 232, in the 48th over.

Filey's losing run continued as they were put in to bat and skittled for 157 in 43 overs. Skipper David Brannan top-scored with 53.

Opponents Kirkella then squeaked home by two wickets despite three scalps each for Brannan and Josh Dawson.

Whitby were officially relegated from North Yorkshire South Durham Division One, but consoled themselves with an impressive win over Darlington.

After being put in to bat at the Turnbull Ground, James Fawcett top-scored with 51, while Charlie Parker added 48 not out down the order, as Whitby posted 234.

The visitors were bowled out inside 26 overs for just 123.

The evergreen Ricky Hall took four wickets for just three runs.
