Scarborough Slump Continues But Winning Runs Extended Elsewhere

Scarborough and Driffield are still looking for their first wins of the new cricket season but Bridlington and Folkton & Flixton are still in fine form.

Boro fielded first after losing the toss against Woodhouse Grange, at North Marine Road, on Saturday.

Jack Redshaw starred with 3/43 and Gihan Maligaspe Koralage picked up 2/52 as Grange posted 240/7 from their 50 overs.

Redshaw them opened the batting and impressed with 64.

However, 155/4 became 190 all out and Boro lost by 50 runs, with ten balls of their innings left.

Driffield Town also remain winless despite bowling visitors Sheriff Hutton Bridge out for 220.

James Anson led the way with 4/59.

In response, however, Town found it tough going and were skittled, in the 34th over, for just 111, with wicket-keeper Mark Tennant's 29 their top score as Driffield lost by 109 runs.

There was better news in YPN Championship East as both our sides secured victories.

Bridlington bowled hosts Welton out for 217 despite losing the toss.

Ricky Robinson was the star with 6/74, Steve Janney adding a couple of useful wickets too.

Much of Brid's top order found runs with Casey Rudd opening with 44, Jordan Baker 47 and an unbeaten fifth-wicket stand between Sam Tennant (a destructive 52 not out) and wicket-keeper John Major (36 not out) as the away side got home with 11 balls to spare.

Folkton & Flixton are also 100% after putting Goole Town in and quickly bowling them out for 138.

Taryn Moses took four wickets for just six runs in his 21 balls with Callum Hatton's 4/21 from 13 overs equally impressive.

The villagers then reached their target with more than 17 overs to spare and just four wickets lost.

Elliot Hatton top-scored with an unbeaten 37- Moses there at the end too with 16.

Filey enjoyed a 50-run win in a low-scoring contest, at Cottingham, in YPN Division One East.

The visitors stumbled to 26/4 at one stage and will have still been disappointed to be bowled out for only 115, in the 44th over.

Aaron Howard top-scored with 35.

But Filey's bowlers were in destructive form, particularly Josh Dawson, who took 6/18, from 12 overs.

Muhammad Hussnain Khalid finished with 3/24 from his 9 overs as the hosts were blown away for only 65.

A scintillating counter-attacking innings from Kieran Bowes (139 from 81 balls), backed up by Alexander Ibbotson (79 from 57), helped Pickering to an impressive 380/9 from 50 overs.

Kirkella were then routed for 116 in just the 32nd over- Tim Whincup taking 4/31, Tom Snowden 3/17 and Kieran Boyes 3/34.

Whitby secured a winning draw at home to Sedgefield to kick-start their North Yorkshire South Durham Division One campaign.

Tom Steyert struck 45, with 36 from skipper Kai Morris, James Fawcett's 30 and Lewis Brearley's 26 helping the hosts to 185/8 from their 50 overs.

Steyert then took 3/42 and youngster Rhys Buck a superb 4 for 6 from his 4 overs to stifle the visitors who limped to 158/8.
