
The Scarborough Borough is mid table in the county's weekly wage rankings.
Average weekly wages in North Yorkshire currently stand at £584, but there are big variations across the county with workers in Harrogate earning on average one hundred pounds a week more than workers in the Scarborough Borough and nearly one hundred and fifty pounds a week more than workers in Ryedale.
Mark Kibblewhite is a senior policy officer at the County Council, he says those weekly differences add up.

The latest data also shows the proportion of people claiming benefits in the Scarborough Borough is higher than elsewhere in North Yorkshire but is lower than the overall Yorkshire average.
The latest numbers from the County Council show that in the county as a whole, 2.5% of residents are claiming benefits.
Senior Policy Officer - Mark Kibblewhite - says the figure in the Scarborough borough is higher.
