The number of crimes waiting to be resolved in North Yorkshire has seen a big fall this year as more resources are put in to action.
North Yorkshire's crime backlog has fallen dramatically this year.
In January there were 17,000 crimes waiting for an outcome in the county, the latest figures show that number is just under 3,000.
Assistant Chief Constable - Scott Bissett - says it's been a big job.
The latest figures show that crime remains much lower in North Yorkshire than elsewhere in the country, The county has around 22 crimes per thousand people, the national average is 35.

The 3 Year Crime Trend figures covering the period 01st July 2020 – 30th June 2023 show crime levels in June were down.
Assistant Chief constable Scott Bissett says home burglary is one area where North Yorkshire performs particularly well.
ACC Bissett says support from the public is essential to helping drive down the crime figures and says there are some specific types of crime where public input is a key factor, including vehicle crime.
The figures show that reported crimes in the force area are higher in the main population centres, he York area sees the largest number of crimes followed by Scarborough and Ryedale and Harrogate.
