A two-day festival to remember and commemorate the famous Battle of Flamborough Head returns for it's third year.
Members of the public can discover how Filey Bay and the Battle of Flamborough Head played a significant role in the American War for Independence.
Filey Bay 1779 is a research group that were established in 2020 to raise awareness of the battle and helping to build a sense of pride in local heritage and culture through education and experiences.
Kim Hodgson - who is from the Filey 1779 group - explains more about the history behind the battle.
The pop-up 1779 heritage centre, which is supported by Yorkshire Coast BID, will be open from 11am-3pm in Filey Crescent Gardens today and on the seafront promenade on Sunday.
This year a second railway poster has been commissioned and it will be on show in stations between Scarborough and Hull during this month.
There will also be entertainment at the Filey Band Stand and a giant 1779 sand art design on Filey beach from 12pm on Sunday. In addition to this, there will be a shipwreck walk at 11am, beginning from Royal Parade, St Martin's Ravine to Coble Landing.
This year's festival dinner and dance at the Filey Sea Cadets HQ will see around 100 guests served by cadets throughout the evening.
Kim Hodgson says that the 250th anniversary of the battle is just around the corner.
