Bathers will be advised against going into the sea off Bridlington South Beach next summer after the water quality there was rated poor.
The reason for the poor rating remains a mystery, with neighbouring Bridlington North Beach classed as good and other nearby beaches rated excellent.
Martin Christmas is from the Environment Agency, he says some East Riding bathing water results have improved but Bridlington South has gone the other way.
Martin Christmas says it's not clear why the water quality has fallen at Bridlington South and says more work will be needed to get to the bottom of the issue.
Martin says a number of other local beaches have improved this year.
The Environment Agency monitors designated waters during the official bathing season between May and September. Martin Christmas sasy they monitor a range of bacteria and pollutants.
