Back To Back Wins For Bridlington Who Hammer 9-Man Brighouse 3-0.

Brighouse had two players sent off at half time following an alteracation with each other!

A bizarre affair at the Hudgell Solicitor Stadium saw Adrian Costello’s Bridlington Town side pick up their first back-to-back victories of the season, with a 3-0 win over Brighouse Town.

Twelve minutes in, Lewis Dennison cut infield from the left, but his effort was tame and straight at Harry Garman. Brighouse went straight down the other end, with James Hitchcock saving well from Jack Normanton’s first-time effort.

Two minutes later Hitchcock was called into action, producing a terrific point-blank save from a Jack Dando header to keep the score level.

The deadlock was broken just before the 20-minute mark, a terrific strike from left-back Jack Walters, who cut inside onto his right foot before unleashing a powerful strike, which Garman got a strong hand to, though he could only guide it into the top corner.

Just three minutes passed and the Seasiders’ lead was doubled. Ali Aydemir dinked the ball to the back post, with Dennison getting to the loose ball before firing into the bottom corner.

Walters’ cross was blocked for a Bridlington corner, which was played to Benn Lewis at the back post, whose dangerous header across the goalline was headed over the crossbar by a Brighouse defender. From the second corner, Jack Bulless’ header was easily saved.

George Harrison tried his luck from the edge of the box, with his low effort being parried away by Garman though Bridlington continued to pile on the pressure.

That being said, the visitors countered with Myron Gibbons getting in behind down the right, though he dragged his effort wide of the left post.

A free kick from the left was taken by Ellis Barkworth, though he overhit it slightly and Bulless was stretching at the back post so headed wide.

Hitchcock was at it again with five minutes of the first half remaining, producing a fantastic reflex save one-on-one with Gibbons at close range to tip the ball over the bar. Again from Gibbons' effort from range, Hitchcock parried the ball out for a corner.

Chaotic scenes followed after referee Macauley Gibson blew for half time, with Dando and Joshua Grant both receiving red cards for an altercation with each other.

Against a nine-man Brighouse side, Bridlington made it three. Harrison ran superbly inside before playing Dennison in behind. His shot was saved but Aydemir was on hand to tap home the rebound.

Aydemir almost netted a second goal in as many minutes, making a great run in behind the Brighouse defence but his left-footed effort skimmed narrowly wide.

Harrison again cut inside before going to goal but it went a long way wide of the right post.

Three minutes later Brandon Webster got in behind substitute Alex Markham, but his weak shot was straight at Hitchcock.

Striker Mohammad Qasim tried a sliding effort from range with five minutes to go, but it went miles over.

Moments later Andy Norfolk was brought down driving towards the penalty area. He took the set-piece, firing miles over.

Brighouse had a gilt-edged chance with two minutes to go, with Ashley Butterworth having a free header after a cross from the right, which he put over.
