Three Filey restaurants have been announced as winners in the 2021 good Food Awards.
The invite only Awards recognise restaurants, cafes and bars for their culinary excellence as well as for providing top class customer service.
The Boat Shed, Bella Italia Risorante and Tommy's Americana Bar have all received awards. The Magpie Cafe in Whitby has also received a 2021 Award.
Nick Ingham runs The Boat Shed, he's not surprised Filey has performed so well.
Nick says it's great news for the town particularly after the latest lockdown announcement this week which is forcing hospitality businesses to close their doors again.
The awards are by invitation only and scoring is based on ranking amongst competitors, consistent customer feedback and a top food hygiene score.
Owner Christina Ingham said
“We are absolutely delighted to have received this award and would like to thank our customers who have nominated and voted for us. I’d also like to thank the amazing team that we have at The Boat Shed for providing top quality food and drink as well as an exceptional customer dining experience.”
The Boat Shed was opened in 2018 and specialises in Pizzas, Cocktails and Gin. Christina Ingham is well known in Scarborough after opening and owning Compass Fitness for over ten years before selling in 2019 to focus on The Boat Shed.
Christina added
“After being involved in the fitness industry I never envisaged going from Gym to Gin however our little business in the heart of Filey is something really special and it’s such an enjoyable business to run. We are seeing many people coming to Filey just for a night out due to the amazing choice of restaurants and bars”.
The Boat Shed like all other bars and restaurants will close this week however they will be offering a takeaway and delivery service.
