24 Hour Fundraiser for Hunmanby Youngster

A 24 hour running challenge is taking place in Hunmanby today.

This weekend sees the community of Hunmanby coming together for Elsie and her family. Elsie is a 4 year old girl living in Hunmanby - who after feeling poorly last year was diagnosed with a rare soft tissue cancer - called Rhabdomyosarcoma.

Following several months of treatment - her family were then told the cancer had relapsed and more treatment is required.

Local residents and businesses in Hunmanby are coming together to help raise funds for her family to make some special memories with Elsie.

Here's local resident John Brining who explains the idea he came up with....

The event is called 24 Hrs for Elsie and will consist of a group of runners of all abilities and ages running for 24 hours on Saturday 11th November. Runners will set off in pairs, on a 4 mile loop, on the hour, every hour for 24 hours.

John went onto explain that the take up has been excellent.

Sponsors for the event include Adverset Media Solutions, Simon Shaw of Walker Shaw Joinery, Gable House Nursery School, Wold Top Brewery, Hunmanby Co-op and Finish Line Run Coaching.

If you would like to donate, then if you live local to Hunmanby - look out for one of the posters around the village, simply use the QR Code, or alternatively search on Facebook for "24 hours for Elsie".

A Crowdfunding page is also available at https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/elaine-livingstone-1, the Elsie's Elves page is a group of people raising money to help Elsie & her family purchase whatever is needed to help them through Elsie's treatment.
