2024 Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Award Winners Revealed

The 2024 Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Awards (REYTAs) took place last night with an awards ceremony at Bridlington Spa, celebrating excellence in the region’s tourism industry.

Now in its 14th year, the REYTAs brought together Hull and East Yorkshire's tourism community for an evening honouring the outstanding individuals, attractions, and hospitality businesses that make the area a vibrant visitor destination.

Chris Blacksell, Visit Hull and East Yorkshire Chair, said:

“The REYTAs are more than an awards night—they’re a powerful reminder of the passion, creativity, and resilience within our tourism sector. Each finalist and winner reflects the dedication that makes Hull and East Yorkshire such an inspiring place for visitors and locals alike.”

With 71 finalists competing across a variety of categories, the event recognized the best in local tourism. Among the night’s biggest achievements was Broadgate Farm Cottages, taking home two honours: the Remarkable Self-Catering Accommodation of the Year and Remarkable Accessible and Inclusive Tourism Award Judges praised:

‘The welcoming atmosphere and serene surroundings create a sanctuary for relaxation. What truly sets Broadgate apart is their commitment to inclusivity, providing adaptable facilities that cater to diverse needs.’

Humber Street Sesh was awarded the Remarkable Tourism event of the Year, with judges applauding Sesh ‘bringing a phenomenal number of visitors to Hull. There is lots of creative engagement and attention to detail in creating a programme that is inclusive for everyone!’

The awards were presented by Hull and East Yorkshire’s iconic blue-coated HEY! Volunteers, who play a vital role in supporting arts, culture, and heritage across the region and enhancing community pride.

Councillor Nick Coultish, cabinet member for culture, leisure, and tourism at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, expressed his pride in the awards, saying:

“The Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Awards celebrate everything that makes our tourism industry exceptional, acknowledging the hard work, talent, and dedication of those at its heart. Congratulations to all the winners and finalists."

The 2024 REYTAs are also aligned with the Visit England awards, offering winners the chance to be recognized on a national level.

Remarkable Accessible and Inclusive Tourism Award: Broadgate Farm Cottages

Remarkable B&B and Guest House of the Year: The Wold Cottage

Judges said: ‘’Wold Cottage is an outstanding place to visit. The Georgian building has been lovingly restored and provides a peaceful haven, luxurious rooms, superb breakfast and a warm welcome.
The grounds are beautifully kept and thoughtfully landscaped to provide opportunities for social and private seating. There are trails within the grounds for short walks to view the local wildlife.
Great effort has been made over the years to improve the carbon footprint and promote sustainable practices.

Remarkable Business Events Venue of the Year (sponsored by HPSS): Doubletree by Hilton, Hull

Judges said: ‘’Enjoying a central location along Ferensway, this Hull hotel delights with spacious rooms, a rooftop bar, a fine dining restaurant and a pillar-free ballroom. Spacious, airy and light, the Hilton offers luxurious high quality. Personal details are a big focus for their business events, a detailed pre planning process and rigorous training system means the business is consistently moving forward and offering first class service.’’

Remarkable Camping, Glamping and Holiday Park of the Year: Wold Escapes

Judges said: ‘’This is a delightful site, set in an area of countryside where there are pleasant views and peace, and quietness can be enjoyed. The cabins have a level of sophistication which make them very attractive to guests of all ages. Who wouldn't want to sit in a hot tub and look out over such a beautiful landscape?   With easy access to a number of places of local interest, plenty of pubs and restaurants and great places to shop, this is an ideal place to spend time.

Remarkable Cuppa Award: The Balloon Tree Farm Shop & Cafe

Judges said: ‘’The Balloontree Farm shop and cafe is located just outside Stamford Bridge. On arrival the first thing we saw was a delightful halloween display including pumpkins from their own seasonal pick your own farm. Locally sourced products and ingredients are used in both the cafe and farm shop and the cafe has a wide selection of dishes on offer including delicious cakes, all served by the most friendly and helpful staff.’’

Remarkable Ethical, Responsible and Sustainable Tourism Award (sponsored by Acklams): Acorn Glade

Judges said: ‘’I was highly impressed by Acorn Glade’s passion for its environmental impact, showcasing a strong commitment to sustainability. Their impressive online presence has been instrumental in attracting guests to the area, boosting local economic growth. The venue itself is absolutely stunning, beautifully maintained, and creates an unforgettable experience. A highlight is the charming addition of llamas roaming the grounds, adding a unique and delightful touch to the setting. Overall, their dedication to both the environment and community, combined with the breathtaking venue, makes this business truly exceptional.’’

Remarkable Experience of the Year: Cow Cuddling at Dumble Farm

Judges said: ‘’Dumble Farm offers a truly unique and unforgettable experience: passionate farmers, inquisitive calves and the cuddliest cows you could imagine. From CuddlePuff with the heaviest head, to Cloud with the warmest belly and Jenny with the most stubborn nature, the cows are all unique and the whole experience is 'udder'ly fantastic.’’

Remarkable Hotel of the Year: HIGHFIELD

Judges said: ‘’Our stay at the Highfield Hotel in Driffield was truly unforgettable. The beautiful grounds made us feel like we had stepped into a painting, with stunning views in every direction. The rooms were luxurious, each with its own unique theme, making it feel like we were on a film set. Remarkable New Tourism Business of the Year: Walking the Wolds

The business gives locals and visitors alike the chance to explore the stunning countryside. Over 50 walks can be downloaded for free from their website and simply done at your own pace. Remarkable Pub of the Year: Rose & Crown

Judges said: ‘’The Rose and Crown is a beautiful Tudor-style pub situated next to the North bar walls in Beverley just a stone’s throw away from the racecourse and Westwood pastures. It's eye-catching display of flowers draws you in and once inside, you’ll discover friendly faces serving local food and drink in a traditional environment. Although you won't spot it from the front, be sure to check out the outdoor area filled with yet more flowers and twinkling lights.’’

Remarkable Taste Award (sponsored by The Yorkshireman): Ambiente Tapas Hull

There are so many immersive and family inclusive activities we really felt it is a place that takes you out of reality and homes in on the essence of being present and in the moment, all while enjoying the fresh Wolds air.
