40% of household waste in the Scarborough Borough is recycled, but that number is being pegged back by a large number of contaminated recycling loads.
A new campaign is being launched to target recycling in the Scarborough Borough.
While as a whole the borough recycles 40% of it's household waste the figure is being hampered by a large number of contaminated recycling loads with incorrect items being placed in blue bins.
Sonya Daines is the Borough Council's Performance Officer.
10.6% of blue bin loads contain items that can't be recycled.
There is concern that in part that's down to holiday makers not being familiar with the bin colour coding.
Sonya says a new campaign is being launched to help get the message across.
