Scarborough Art Festival

Scarborough Art is an exciting new event taking place at various venues across Scarborough town centre and beyond.

It is an opportunity to visit different places and spaces around the area and discover work from across the creative community.

Artwork of a wide range of media will be showcased from paintings and sculpture to photography and printmaking. This event is perfect for art lovers to enjoy a day filled with creativity and inspiration. Come and celebrate the rich artistic heritage of Scarborough and find the hidden gems waiting to be uncovered. As well as exhibitions, several artists and makers across the town will be hosting workshops for visitors to take part in and create art of their own.

A hive of artistic activity will take place around streets and studios in the Scarborough area, with several galleries and spaces exhibiting work.

Birds of Heart and Sky is an hour-long collection of emotive audio works, songs, compositions and field recordings celebrating particular species of bird while highlighting their current decline. These species are on the Red List of most vulnerable birds in the UK. This installation at St Mary’s Church aims to help raise awareness and promote more public support to increase their populations.

Local photographer John Westgarth will showcase his images of Yorkshire and the North in general  at an exhibition in Scarborough Indoor Market.

Various local artists will be exhibiting their work at The Shakespeare Gallery in St Helen’s Square, a new location for and by Scarborough’s artistic community.

The Butterfly Effect by Untangled Threads is a celebration of mindful stitching and the power we have to make a lasting impact on those around us. This fundraising project, in aid of MIND, involves hundreds of supporters across the UK.

Another chance to create something is Have a Go Art, a drop-in workshop for all where experienced practitioners will demonstrate their process and encourage people to ‘have-a-go'.
